Born November 30th 1913, Johnny Miller, WØAMR lived most of his 95 years, 9 months and 14 days in Pueblo and was a valuable addition to each and every hobby he adopted. Johnny met his wife Evelyn while working the mines in Cripple Creek, then moved to Pueblo in the late 30’s to work 30+ years to retire from the railroad. This picture was taken in their home on West Abriendo Ave., before moving to their Morrison Ave. home. Johnny was an avid photographer, outstanding amateur radio operator, and loved his computers. For his last major accomplishment, dug into genealogy and all their family roots are traced back to the original settlers. He and Evelyn loved the PHC family, enjoying the camping and communication events. He loved to fish and be around his friends. Over the years, he helped all of us understand and appreciate the important aspects of GOD, Love, Life and Family. With Evelyn ill and in long term care, he spend each and every day for the last 10 years devoted to caring for her, and then if time was left, enjoying something for himself. He was a valuable friend to each of us that were fortunate enough to grow up around Johnny; I will always remember our first meeting in 1968 and that warm smile, the sincere handshake and offer to ‘Elmer me’ with anything I needed. He was always ‘giving’, never ‘taking’. His smile is infectious –forever, with or without his teeth. Each night he would give Evelyn a kiss and tell her he loved her, he would be back tomorrow. Rest in peace John ‘Jetter’ Miller, Jr., there will never be anyone like you, thanks for all you have done for all of us.
